The nine waiver wire receivers who could rescue your fantasy season
The push toward the fantasy football playoffs is reaching its peak, with only one week remaining before the postseason begins. Unless you play in a league that schedules its championship during the final NFL week, most managers are now scrambling for last minute solutions. If you were comfortably leading, you probably would not be looking for help. More likely, you are dealing with slumping stars, unexpected injuries, or a roster that has somehow stayed afloat despite poor point totals.
To help sort through the desperation, FTW betting analyst Mike Boyajian and I examined a group of wide receivers who have lingered on many waiver wires despite recent flashes. These are the players who could still become difference makers when it matters most.
Which under the radar receiver could carry your 2025 fantasy playoff run

Each of these nine receivers is rostered in twenty percent or fewer Yahoo leagues and has delivered a double digit style performance within the past two weeks. From that group, we highlighted two players who stand above the rest and identified the one we would trust most to propel a playoff run. A usage chart from the previous month reveals who is earning valuable snaps and who is maximizing those opportunities.
The data does not fully capture Jalen Cokers increase in activity after returning from a hamstring issue or Isaac TeSlaas likely uptick in targets following Amon Ra St Browns recent injury. Still, it offers several key takeaways:
- When Adonai Mitchell is on the field during a passing down, Tyrod Taylor looks his way roughly a third of the time
- Devaughn Vele could carve out a major role simply because New Orleans lacks dependable alternatives
- Jalen Coker is slowly climbing Bryce Youngs target list
- Dontayvion Wicks deserves more time on the field
These four form the top tier. Mitchell struggles with drops, Wicks competes for targets in a balanced Green Bay offense, and both Vele and Coker rely on inconsistent quarterbacks. Even so, the volume potential for Vele and the intentional involvement Mitchell receives from the Jets give them an edge. Considering how often those teams play from behind, Mitchells late game upside makes him a compelling postseason swing.
I have been promoting Mitchell for weeks. He is clearly a major part of New Yorks offensive plan and his recent outing showed what he can deliver across the stretch, even if a quiet game may appear here and there.
The second choice is more complicated. If you need immediate production in Week 14, Isaac TeSlaa becomes appealing. With Amon Ra St Brown expected to miss at least one game and possibly two, TeSlaa has a chance to capitalize on his red zone effectiveness. The risk, however, is that his role diminishes once St Brown returns. In that case, the most explosive long term option becomes Luther Burden III. Though his team leans heavily on the run, his involvement continues to rise and he could emerge as Caleb Williams most dependable target alongside Colston Loveland as the postseason approaches.
