Amazon is introducing a new rapid delivery option that promises to get orders to customers within half an hour. The service, named Amazon Now, will initially be available in Seattle, Washington and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to a company announcement on Monday, December 1.
The service covers thousands of products, including groceries, personal care items, pet supplies, household essentials, electronics, over-the-counter medications, and seasonal merchandise. Amazon Prime members benefit from a $3.99 delivery charge per order, while non-members are subject to a $13.99 fee. Additionally, a $1.99 basket fee applies to all orders under $15.
Availability
At launch, Amazon Now is exclusively accessible to Amazon Prime subscribers in Seattle and Philadelphia.
How It Works
Customers in these cities can use the Amazon mobile app or website to check if the "30-Minute Delivery" option is available for their address. The service relies on compact, specialized facilities strategically located within Seattle and Philadelphia to ensure fast order processing. These hubs are designed to enhance efficiency while prioritizing employee safety and minimizing delivery distances, enabling quicker arrival times for customers.
