Disneyland Closes Haunted Mansion Ride for Renovation Period

Each year during the Halloween and Christmas seasons, Disneyland transforms the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday, inspired by Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas. Although this festive version remains in place for several months, it must be removed once the holiday festivities wrap up.

Disneyland has now confirmed the dates for the attractions annual post-season closure. While this refurbishment happens around the same time every year, it can still surprise guests who arent expecting it.

This years overlay debuted on August 22, 2025, after the attraction closed on August 9 to install the seasonal dcor. Following the conclusion of Disneylands Christmas celebration on January 7, the ride will remain open briefly before shutting down. The final day to experience Haunted Mansion Holiday will be January 11, with the attraction closing on January 12, 2026, to remove the overlay.

Another major attraction, its a small world, also receives a holiday transformation each winter. Disneyland typically schedules these two refurbishments at different times to ensure one major seasonal attraction remains open while the other undergoes work. Its a small world holiday generally stays available later into January, partly because it opens for the season in November, whereas Haunted Mansion Holiday begins in August.

The refurbishment pattern shifted in 2024 when Haunted Mansion closed for more than six months to upgrade its queue and enhance accessibility. That year, the attraction remained open well into January before its lengthy shutdown.

Additional ride closures are also occurring throughout the resort for regular maintenance, including refurbishments for The Incredicoaster, Grizzly River Run, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, and the ongoing closure of Indiana Jones Adventure. Disneyland continues to update its refurbishment schedule as reopening dates are determined.
