GameStop customer sets record with $30,494.70 Pokemon card trade-in

On December 2, GameStop revealed that a customer in Texas exchanged a Pokmon trading card for a staggering $30,494.70, setting a new record for the highest-value single trade-in in the company's history.

The transaction occurred in Grapevine, Texas, where the customer presented a fully authenticated PSA 10 Holo Gengar card at their local GameStop store. Following the store's standard inspection, verification, and compliance procedures, the card was appraised at a fair-market value of $33,883.

GameStop proceeded to pay the customer $30,494.70 for the card, which officially established this trade as the most valuable in the retailer's history. The company noted that the payout was slightly below the market valuation by $3,388.30.

In a statement, GameStop also addressed critics of its Power Packs Buyback Program, asserting that any claims questioning the fairness of its trade-in values were incorrect and unsupported by facts. The retailer emphasized that past and present objections regarding trade values are now considered invalid.
