Wienerschnitzel hot dog chain makes a comeback in Waco, Texas

The American hot dog chain Wienerschnitzel is returning to Waco, Texas, with a new location opening on December 3, 2025. Situated at 305 S Valley Mills Dr, this will mark the brands first Waco restaurant since it left the city in 2009 and the 48th Wienerschnitzel site in Texas.

The menu will feature fan favorites such as the Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, and Chili Cheese Fries. Additionally, the restaurant will serve Tastee Freez desserts, including dipped cones and floats, with seasonal specials like Hostess Ding Dongs and Twinkies Shakes.

The new Waco location will provide drive-through, online ordering, and delivery, with delivery service expected to begin in January 2026. Local restaurateur Brett Swartz, known for leading Waco establishments such as Slow Rise Slice House, will manage the restaurant. Swartz stated: "This brand has been a Texas favorite for generations. We are excited to bring its legendary menu and friendly atmosphere back to our community, creating a fun and memorable dining experience for families, students, and visitors."

Ted Milburn, Director of U.S. Franchise Development for Wienerschnitzel, described the reopening as an exciting milestone, adding that Swartzs extensive experience in Waco makes him an ideal partner for this venture.

This Waco opening is part of Wienerschnitzels ongoing growth strategy. Earlier in 2025, the chain announced plans for six new locations inside Walmart stores across the U.S., including in New Mexico, California, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. In July, the company arranged seven additional restaurants in Virginia, followed by agreements for eight more locations in Spokane, Washington, and Fort Worth, Texas.
