A Young-Looking Pedro Pascal Makes an Appearance on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," Let's Talk About It Together

Ever stumble upon an old TV episode and think, "Hold on, isnt that familiar?" Many famous actors appeared on popular shows before their breakthrough rolesRyan Reynolds on The X-Files, Evan Peters on The Office, Jennifer Lawrence on Monk, and more. Recently, while rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it hit me that Pedro Pascal appeared in an early episode!

In the Season 4 premiere, "The Freshman", Pascal plays Eddie, a friendly college student who unexpectedly becomes a vampire. Buffy first encounters Eddie when she accidentally bumps into him on the UC Sunnydale campus, sparking a charming conversation about the challenges of being a college freshman.

Eddie initially seems like a nice guy, but shortly after parting ways with Buffy, he is attacked by a vampire gangenter "baby Pedro Pascal, vampire edition." Buffy later discovers Eddie missing from class and learns from his roommate that he mysteriously left the dorm and vanished, leaving behind his copy of Human Bondage. Of course, Buffy soon finds Eddie againonly to be attacked. She quickly defeats him, turning him to dust.

Though over 25 years have passed since this episode aired, Sarah Michelle Gellar remembers Eddie fondly and even shared a tribute on Instagram in 2023. For Pascal, this role was life-changing. He revealed in 2024 that the residuals from Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped him stay afloat in Hollywood during tough early years, literally supporting him when he had less than $7 in his bank account.

Thanks to this early role, Pedro Pascal eventually went on to star in major hits like Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian, and The Last of Us. His journey from a single guest spot on Buffy to becoming a household name proves how pivotal one episode can be.

If you want to revisit this iconic appearance, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
