Alyssa Farah Griffin from 'The View' Talks About Why She Was Absent from ABC Talk Show

Alyssa Farah Griffin has been noticeably absent from The View this week following the Thanksgiving break. When the ABC talk show resumed on Monday, she was missing from her usual spot at the Hot Topics table. After three days without her, Griffin took to social media to clarify the reason for her absence.

In an Instagram Story post, Griffin shared with her followers, "Hey everyone! Ive been under the weather with a stomach virus, but I hope to be back on The View tomorrow." She went on to explain how challenging it is to be sick while six and a half months pregnant, stating, "Its no fun being sick at this stage of pregnancy." She also reminded her followers, "Its that time of yearmake sure to use hand sanitizer and stay home if youre feeling unwell."

Griffin expressed hope that she would return to the show on Thursday, December 4, to continue discussing the latest political and pop culture topics. On the episode that aired on Monday, December 1, Whoopi Goldberg addressed her absence, noting Griffin's absence for the day. Sarah Haines, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin filled in for Griffin, with Joy Behar, who is typically absent on Mondays, not expected to be there either.

Griffin joined The View in 2022 to represent a conservative viewpoint after her tenure in Washington, D.C. She previously worked as Press Secretary to Vice President Mike Pence, and later served as Press Secretary at the Department of Defense from September 2019. In April 2020, she became the third White House Director of Strategic Communications under Donald Trump. She resigned from her position in December 2020 and, a month later, publicly condemned Trump for his role in the January 6th Capitol attack.
