BBC acquires series about The Beatles’ time in Hamburg

The legendary English rock band, The Beatles, are set to be featured in a new BBC drama series titled Hamburg Days, which will delve into their formative years as a band.

The six-part series is inspired by the autobiography of German artist and musician Klaus Voormann. It is set during the 1960s, when Voormann and photographer Astrid Kirchherr encountered a young Liverpool group performing in the lively clubs of Hamburgs St. Pauli district. Together, they played a key role in shaping the band that would become a global phenomenon.

Hamburg Days tells the remarkable story of how, over just two years, a raw teenage band from Liverpool refined their sound in Hamburg before returning home to achieve worldwide fame, said Sue Deeks, head of scripted pre-buy acquisitions at the BBC. The series comes alive with an unforgettable soundtrack.

Klaus Voormann will act as a consultant for the project. Details regarding the cast have not yet been released.
