Drew Barrymore Receives Heartwarming New Nickname Following Photo With New Pets

Actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore has once again opened her home to new companions, this time welcoming two blue budgies, a type of parakeet, into her household. However, the newest additions seem to be keeping her on her toes.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Barrymore shared a series of Instagram snapshots featuring the tiny birds. In the photos, she is seen relaxing on her couch, surrounded by a bookshelf, potted plants, and wall art. She is dressed casually in a hoodie or robe, wearing no makeup, and her hair is clipped back. Interestingly, the tips of her hair have flipped over onto her forehead, creating a perch for the playful birds.

One image shows Barrymore giving the camera a tired look, while in other shots, she turns her head to highlight the birds comfortably nesting in her hair. She captioned the amusing collection, "Well, this is my life now!", offering little detail about the new feathered family members.

Barrymores Home: A Miniature Zoo

The 50 First Dates star has not revealed the names of her latest pets, but she is already known for maintaining a diverse collection of animals. Her home includes a bearded dragon named Jeremy, a snake called Cecil, several cats named Peach, Lucky, Big Kitty, and Little Kitty, as well as a dog named Douglas. Fans playfully commented, dubbing her Dr. Drewlittle, while also joking about her hairstyle.

Animal Lover and Future Inspiration

The nickname Dr. Drewlittle references the classic fictional character Dr. Dolittle, who famously speaks to animals and transitions from physician to veterinarian. The moniker suits Barrymore, whose connection with animals began in childhood when she starred in her first commercial for Purina puppy chow. Fans responded with enthusiasm, hinting that her growing menagerie could inspire new creative ventures, possibly even a role in a modern adaptation of the beloved story.
