'Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ has arrived. Get ready for more video game adaptations to be excited about.

The horror sequel Five Nights at Freddys 2 hits theaters this weekend, bringing back Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard, with Mckenna Grace and Wayne Knight joining the cast. Following the success of the first film in 2023, this creepy animatronic thriller promises more scares for fans of the franchise.

Video game adaptations continue to grow as a major force in Hollywood, rivaling even superhero franchises. Films like 2023s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and this years Minecraft Movie achieved enormous box office success. Not every adaptation has hit the mark, though; titles such as last years Borderlands, 2022s Uncharted, and 2018s Tomb Raider reboot received mixed reactions for struggling to translate their games stories and appeal to the screen. Successful adaptations, however, have proven to be highly profitable and keep studios invested in the genre.
