Jon Stewart reacts to Trump's claim of not knowing about his own MRI: 'That's impossible'

As the holiday weekend ended, Jon Stewart criticized former President Donald Trump for using an ableist insult against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and for offering implausible explanations regarding his cognitive health.

During Thanksgiving, Trump referred to Walz, who ran as Kamala Harriss running mate last year, using a derogatory term in a post on Truth Social. Stewart reacted on Monday night, asking incredulously, "On Thanksgiving? Were you celebrating Festivus instead?"

When pressed by reporters about his remarks, Trump insisted there was "something seriously wrong" with Walz. Stewart mocked the statement, highlighting the contrast between Trumps holiday celebrations and his choice to publicly insult the governor.

Stewart also addressed Trumps recent statements about his health, including an October MRI. Trump claimed he had no idea which body part had been scanned, saying it was "just an MRI" and implying it could not have been his brain because he passed a cognitive test. Stewart countered, calling the claim physically impossible and questioning how someone could undergo an MRI without curiosity about the procedure.

Stewart further ridiculed Trumps assertion of achieving a "perfect score" on the test, joking about how MRIs are "scored."

Stephen Colbert added commentary, noting that some former Trump supporters have expressed frustration over his priorities, such as constructing a lavish ballroom instead of addressing affordability issues. Colbert also pointed out Trumps pattern of using racial and ableist attacks on social media, referencing the recent slur against Walz.

Walz responded by demanding the release of the MRI results. Trump eventually agreed but maintained uncertainty about what was scanned. Colbert quipped that perhaps the part of Trump that should know was the part that was "broken."

Trumps team later posted a letter from his physician stating the MRI focused on cardiovascular and abdominal health, which Colbert acknowledged but joked could also suggest Trump might consider retiring.

Jimmy Kimmel joined in criticism, highlighting Trumps use of an ableist term and mocking his claim about Walz. Kimmel also commented on Trumps self-assessment of approval ratings, noting that even poorly reviewed gas station bathrooms have higher approval. He added criticism of Trumps plan to pardon a former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking, contrasting it with other actions against drug operations, emphasizing the irony and hypocrisy.
