Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino Join Forces for Upcoming “Gilmore Girls” Book

Fans of Gilmore Girls will soon get a fresh look behind the scenes of the iconic series. Lauren Graham, the shows lead, and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino are teaming up to write a book offering an insiders perspective on the making of the beloved show, with a scheduled release in fall 2027.

The announcement was made exclusively on the Today show, where host Carson Daly described the project as an untitled work that will "take readers behind the curtain of Gilmore Girls, showcasing how a small-town dramedy with rapid-fire dialogue became a cultural phenomenon."

The book, to be published by Celadon Books, promises a mix of sharp humor, personal reflections, and previously untold stories. It will explore the creative partnership between Graham and Sherman-Palladino, the development of Lorelai Gilmores character, and the world of Stars Hollow. Fans can also expect anecdotes from the set that highlight the series signature blend of heart, humor, and chemistry.

Graham expressed her excitement about the project, stating that she is "thrilled to collaborate with Amy to share stories from the special years we spent filming Gilmore Girls." Sherman-Palladino echoed this enthusiasm, noting her eagerness to work alongside Graham on any project, jokingly admitting that their close collaboration might be "unhealthy, but its just the reality of the situation."

This will not be Grahams first time giving fans a behind-the-scenes look. Her 2016 memoir, Talking as Fast as I Can, offered insights into both the original series and the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Graham has also published several other works, including In Conclusion, Dont Worry About It (2018), Have I Told You This Already? (2022), and the novel Someday, Someday, Maybe (2013).

The series originally aired from 2000 to 2007, following mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore in the fictional Connecticut town of Stars Hollow. Sherman-Palladino left the show after season six but returned to oversee the 2016 Netflix revival, which featured four extended episodes.

Earlier this year, several cast members, including Graham, Sherman-Palladino, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Matt Czuchry, and Yanic Truesdale, reunited at Grahams Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.
