British singer-songwriter Lily Allen, 40, has unveiled an online merchandise store to promote her newest album, West End Girl, released in October. Among the items for sale is a USB drive humorously designed to resemble a blue-and-white, polka-dotted butt plug, echoing the style of her Miu Miu jacket featured on the album cover.
Allen's website clarifies that the product is "a novelty USB device intended for data storage only." Priced at $33.99, the USB drives are scheduled for release on December 19, though it is uncertain whether they will arrive in time for the holiday season.
The unusual merchandise comes after Allen referenced butt plugs in the track "Pussy Palace," a song narrating the experience of discovering a partner's infidelity. In the lyrics, she mentions: "Duane Reade bag with the handles tied / Sex toys, butt plugs, lube inside / Hundreds of Trojans, you're so f---ing broken."
Producer and writer Blue May shared that the creation of "Pussy Palace" was swift, describing the process as "really quick." He explained that the song began with the concept of a West Village apartment and the shocking discoveries within. The lyrics reportedly came together in about an hour and a half, capturing the intense emotions of the scenario. May added that the recording session was filled with energy, complete with smoke machines, disco lights, and lively moments shared by the team.
Allen promoted the USB drive on Instagram, sharing a playful photo holding the product with peach and electrical plug emojis in the caption, emphasizing the cheeky nature of the item.
