Margot Robbie has shared insights into the demanding yet rewarding experience of filming her latest project, Wuthering Heights. The actress began production only three months after giving birth, admitting she initially felt unprepared and anxious about returning to work so soon.
Robbie found comfort and guidance from director Emerald Fennell, who encouraged her to focus on being present rather than over-preparing. "Emerald kept telling me, 'I just need you to be in the moment,' which helped ease my nerves," Robbie said.
Expectations and the Romantic Tone
Contrary to what some may anticipate, Robbie emphasized that the films intimate scenes are more romantic than overtly provocative. Speaking with British Vogue, she explained, "Its definitely provocative in parts, but its really an epic romance. People may be surprised by the emotional depth." She compared the storys sweeping romantic appeal to classics such as The Notebook and The English Patient, noting that the film will satisfy fans craving heartfelt storytelling.
Robbie praised Fennells ability to evoke strong physical and emotional responses from the audience. "Emerald has a unique talent for making you feel it in your chest, like a punch to the gut, whether its titillating or shocking," she said.
Scenes That Left Robbie Weak at the Knees
Reflecting on working with co-star Jacob Elordi, Robbie revealed certain moments were particularly striking. One scene shows Elordi lifting her character effortlessly with one arm, while another features him shielding her from the rain. These gestures, Robbie noted, captured a kind of old-fashioned masculine charm that resonated with her and other viewers in their 30s. "It was the little, tender gestures that made these moments memorable," she explained.
Balancing Motherhood and Filming
Filming shortly after childbirth brought its own challenges. Robbie acknowledged her routine was disrupted and that she was navigating new experiences as a mother. Despite this, she found reassurance and support on set, which allowed her to focus fully on her performance.
Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerly, welcomed their child in October 2024. She has described motherhood as "the best," emphasizing the shared understanding among parents that words often fail to capture. The couple continues to enjoy personal time together, recently being spotted on a date night in Beverly Hills.
