During a performance in Rosemont, Illinois, on Thursday, Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) delivered an unforgettable evening, blending his concert with a powerful tribute to friendship. As part of the final dates of his 2025 "Lost Americana" tour, MGK was joined on stage by his longtime friend Halsey for a surprise performance of their hit song, "Bad Things."
Halsey took the stage and belted out the lyrics, "Am I out of my head? Am I out of my mind? If you only knew the bad things I like," taking over Camila Cabello's original part from the track. The crowd was electrified as she effortlessly blended into the song's vibe, adding her unique voice to the duet.
During the performance, MGK shared a heartfelt moment, publicly honoring Halsey's resilience over the past few years. The rapper-turned-rocker praised his friend for overcoming severe health challenges, including a battle with lupus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.
"I want to take a moment to give flowers to this incredible woman whos been through an incredibly tough couple of years," MGK said, with Halsey visibly touched by the gesture. "Ive had the privilege to watch her fight through some serious health battles, and I dont think weve given her enough credit for what shes done, both in music and as a friend."
As the audience looked on, MGK continued, "This woman is still going through chemotherapy, fighting every day, and she's out here killing it." His words were met with applause, as the crowd celebrated Halsey's strength and determination.
Halsey has been open about her health struggles, revealing in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with lupus and a T-cell disorder two years earlier. Before heading out on her own "Back to Badlands" tour in October, she underwent another round of chemotherapy, showcasing her resilience in the face of adversity.
The two artists have shared a long history of collaboration, having worked together on "Forget Me Too" for MGKs 2020 album Tickets to My Downfall. Halsey also joined MGK on stage during his 2022 "Mainstream Sellout" tour stop in Los Angeles, reaffirming their close bond.
