Neil Patrick Harris couldn't hide his amusement after Abby Lee Miller posted a photo with him on Instagram following her visit to his new Broadway show, ART. In the image, Harris' face appeared noticeably airbrushed, prompting both the actor and fans to comment on the unusual editing.
Harris is currently featured in the Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza's comedic play ART, performing alongside Bobby Cannavale and James Corden.
Abby Lee Miller, known for Dance Moms, attended the Broadway revival on Tuesday, December 2. She shared a series of Instagram photos praising the performance and capturing moments with Harris, Cannavale, and Corden.
Her caption read: If you truly want to LAUGH OUT LOUD!!! Then go see @artonbway. With these incredible comedic actors @nph @j_corden and @bobby_cannavale. On TV they are superstars, live on stage their timing is impeccable, and in person afterward such gracious kind gentlemen! Thank you for an incredible evening if NY Theater!
Despite the warm message, many followers noticed Harris' appearance had been heavily edited. Ummm what did you do to my face..? Harris commented under the post, receiving nearly four thousand likes.
The following day, Miller explained the filters were intended to enhance her own appearance after her previous cancer treatment. Burkitt Lymphoma, 10 rounds of invasive chemo & a big birthday so Im sticking with the filters! she wrote, adding: You sir always look fabulous no matter what!
Fans joined in on the playful commentary, joking about the heavy editing. Comments included humorous remarks like youve been victimized by facetune and references to Harris youth on Doogie Howser, M.D..
Even the official ART Instagram account and the FaceTune app page chimed in, celebrating the photo in jest.
The accidental photo alteration mirrored the comedic tone of ART, a story about three friends whose bond is tested over an extravagant white painting. The Broadway revival, translated by Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton, originally debuted in 1998 starring Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina. It ran for 600 performances and 20 previews, featuring actors such as Brian Cox, Judd Hirsch, Wayne Knight, Joe Morton, and the late George Wendt, before closing in August 1999.
