Paul Feig Shares How Blake Lively Assisted in Casting 'The Housemaid'

As the drama surrounding the behind-the-scenes issues of It Ends with Us continues, Blake Lively has played a pivotal role in helping one of her co-stars secure his next project. Paul Feig, director of The Housemaid, recently shared that Lively recommended her former co-star, Brandon Sklenar, for a role in the upcoming psychological thriller, set to release in theaters on December 19.

Feig spoke to E! News, revealing that Lively had nothing but praise for Sklenar. "Blake had just worked with Brandon and couldnt stop talking about how incredible he was. After meeting him myself, I was instantly convinced. Yes, you are great, and I love you," he said.

Lively had worked with Feig on A Simple Favor (2018) and its sequel Another Simple Favor (2025), and also starred alongside Sklenar in last years It Ends with Us, a film that has been marred by Livelys ongoing legal issues with co-star Justin Baldoni. Sklenar has mostly stayed out of the conversation about the drama, but in February, he expressed his disappointment over how the situation overshadowed the true spirit of the project. "Its unfortunate when things get taken out of context and become convoluted," he said.

In The Housemaid, Sklenar plays Andrew Winchester, a wealthy man with dark secrets, alongside his wife Nina, played by Amanda Seyfried. The couple hires Millie Calloway, portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, a young woman trying to escape her troubled past. Together, they form the central plot of the psychological thriller, where hidden truths unravel as Millie becomes involved in their lives.
