Raccoon causes chaos in Virginia liquor store before passing out in bathroom

ASHLAND, Va. In the early hours of Saturday, a masked intruder broke into a liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, targeting the lower shelves stocked with scotch and whisky. The night-time visitor left behind a trail of destruction: shattered bottles, a fallen ceiling tile, and spilled alcohol covering the floor. The culprit? A mischievous raccoon.

By Saturday morning, a store employee discovered the exhausted animal asleep on the bathroom floor, concluding its intoxicated escapade. Samantha Martin, a local animal control officer, commented on the unusual incident: Raccoons are entertaining little creatures. This one went through a ceiling tile and proceeded to make a complete mess, sampling everything in sight.

Martin safely transported the raccoon back to the animal shelter, enjoying some laughs along the way. Just another day on the job for animal control, she remarked.

The Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter praised Martin for her efforts and noted that the raccoon had recovered from its tipsy adventure. After a few hours of rest and no injuries aside from perhaps a slight hangover and questionable choices, the raccoon was released back into the wild, hopefully wiser from its experience, the agency stated.
