Rumer Willis Teases First Album with Release of 'Sailing' Cover: 'Finally Happening'

Rumer Willis is making waves in the music scene with a cover of Christopher Cross' iconic 1979 hit "Sailing," signaling the imminent release of her highly anticipated debut album.

On November 21, Rumer, the 37-year-old daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, shared her rendition of the classic track, featuring singer-songwriter Austin Brown. The cover comes just two days before the star teased her first-ever full-length album.

In a new music video for "Sailing," Rumer captivates viewers with her soulful voice, dressed in a white floral dress with her blonde hair flowing freely, as she and Brown perform together in a cozy studio. She shared the video on Instagram, expressing her excitement: "So glad to finally be able to share it with the world! ."

Her fans, friends, and family wasted no time expressing their admiration. "You sound so good! " wrote her sister, Scout. Another sister, Tallulah, added, "So beautiful." One commenter praised Rumer, saying, "Rumer is incredible! Wow. That voice the world needs to hear more from this beautiful woman!" While another fan exclaimed, "Such a beautiful voice she makes this rendition so special! So unexpected, but I want to hear more from her!"

Just days later, Rumer teased the much-awaited album in a heartfelt Instagram post. "I feel so full and inspired," she wrote, alongside a photo of herself posing with a guitar in a white dress in front of a picket fence. "I had the privilege of spending some time in Nashville this year working on my first album (yes, the one that's been in the works for years, but its FINALLY happening). I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from such amazing mentors."

Rumer went on to express her excitement about her music: "I am writing songs Im so excited to share and am proud to call myself not just a singer, but a musician and songwriter too. I cant wait to share what Ive been working on and am thankful for everyone who's been a part of this journey. Big thanks to @gibsonguitar for letting me play with this beautiful guitar."

Rumer is not the only one in her family making music waves. Her sister Scout recently spoke about her own single, "It Aint Nothing," which was a collaboration with producers JT Daly, Daniel Tashian, and Steph Jones. The song explores the tension of flirtation and the charged moments before something unfolds.

As for Rumer, after releasing her single "Blame Me" earlier this year, she is focused on finalizing her full-length record. In March 2025, she headed to Nashville, where she worked with songwriters, including those Daly enlisted. "It felt like I was on musical blind dates every day, and I ended up writing enough for two albums," she revealed in an interview.
