Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Allegedly Did Not Compensate Videographer Who Provided Footage to Netflix, Says Former Publicist

Sean Diddy Combs' former publicist claims that the music moguls casual business habits have now caused complications for him. Rob Shuter, who worked with Combs during his peak fame, shared in his Naughty But Nice Substack on December 4 that he was surprised by the lack of proper documentation in Combs' dealings.

He always had photographers and video crews following him everywhere, yet he avoided formal contracts because he was frugal, Shuter stated. This approach has now led to controversy as intimate footage of Combs appears in the new Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

Representatives for Combs, who is currently incarcerated, alleged that Netflix used the footage without permission in a statement to Variety on December 1, calling it fundamentally unfair, and illegal. Netflix, however, denied these claims, with director Alexandria Stapleton explaining to Tudum on December 2 that all footage was obtained legally with the required rights.

Shuter confirmed that the lack of contracts was consistent with his experience working with Combs, asserting, Diddy never paid the videographer, and there was never a signed agreement.

He added that Combs still expected loyalty from his team, but when others offered money to the videographer for the footage while Combs was imprisoned, it was simply a business transaction, not a betrayal.

Combs is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence following convictions for transportation for prostitution.
