Sydney Sweeney Stands Firm on Her Opinions Amid American Eagle Backlash.

Sydney Sweeney has opened up about the criticism she faced following her appearance in an American Eagle commercial, calling the backlash undeserved. The actress spoke candidly about her feelings, revealing that the negative reactions left a lasting impact on her.

After a turbulent year professionally, with a couple of her recent projects underperforming at the box office, Sweeney reflected on her decision to join the campaign. She emphasized that her involvement was motivated purely by admiration for the brand.

"I dont agree with the interpretations some people attached to the campaign. Many assumptions and labels applied to me were simply inaccurate," Sweeney explained in a recent interview. American Eagle also defended the ad, highlighting that the campaign was meant to celebrate all its customers.

The actress stressed that she strives to lead with kindness and opposes divisiveness, noting that staying silent had only fueled misunderstandings. "I hope the coming year will focus more on what unites us rather than what separates us," she added.

Initially, Sweeney appeared indifferent to the uproar, dismissing claims that the campaign negatively affected the brand. She clarified that the situation was handled quietly and professionally by American Eagle.

Despite the criticism, Sweeney remained confident that her intentions were understood. She mostly ignored online commentary due to her busy schedule and long workdays.

An independent poll later showed that the controversy was overstated. Only 12% of Americans surveyed were offended, while 39% found the ad clever. Forty percent didnt understand the negative reaction, and 8% were undecided. Men generally responded more positively than women, and younger audiences showed greater appreciation for the campaign. Politically, Republicans were more receptive to the ad than Democrats.

Her professionalism was also praised by co-stars. On the set of her movie "Christy," she was noted for her dedication and stamina. One co-star described her as a "powerhouse," balancing demanding shoots with personal training and navigating social media pressures with composure.

The commercial ultimately proved highly successful. Limited-edition items sold out within 48 hours, contributing to a 10% boost in American Eagles market share. The campaign reportedly added $400 million to the brand's value and generated massive online engagement. In comparison, other celebrity campaigns, including Nike x Kim Kardashian and Beyonc's Verizon Super Bowl spot, produced smaller stock impacts.

Sydney Sweeneys collaboration with American Eagle not only showcased her influence but also demonstrated her ability to navigate public scrutiny while achieving remarkable commercial success.
