Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner's Wife Seeks Divorce Following LAPD Shootout Eight Months Ago

Jillian Lauren-Shriner, author and spouse of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has initiated divorce proceedings after two decades of marriage. Sources report that 52-year-old Lauren-Shriner cited irreconcilable differences as the cause for the separation, with no details provided regarding the official filing or separation date.

The divorce filing comes eight months after a dramatic police encounter near the couples Los Angeles residence on April 8. During a manhunt for three individuals involved in a hit-and-run in the Eagle Rock neighborhood, Lauren-Shriner was reportedly shot by law enforcement. Authorities clarified that she was not connected to the hit-and-run but allegedly fired a weapon at an officer in the backyard after ignoring repeated commands to drop her firearm.

Following the incident, Lauren-Shriner faced two felony charges and pled not guilty on May 13 to discharging a firearm with gross negligence and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. These charges were reduced from initial allegations of attempted murder. The confrontation resulted in a non-life-threatening shoulder injury to Lauren-Shriner, while officers remained unharmed. Documents indicate she entered a two-year mental health diversion program in lieu of jail time.

The couple, married in November 2005 in Hawaii, share two children: Jovanni Starshine, 13, and Tariku Moon, 17. Lauren-Shriner is reportedly requesting joint legal and physical custody, spousal support, coverage of attorney fees by Shriner, and the restoration of her maiden name.

Earlier this year, in March, Lauren-Shriner disclosed on social media that she had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent consecutive surgeries, including a full hysterectomy.
