Cheryl Hines made a rare public appearance this week, joining First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Usha Vance for an event honoring military families. The gathering took place at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George's County, Maryland, on Monday, December 1, as part of an American Red Cross initiative.
During the visit, the women engaged with families of deployed service members, signed holiday cards, and helped prepare care packages for troops stationed overseas. First Lady Trump addressed the attendees, highlighting the importance of self-care while managing the challenges of supporting loved ones in the military. She emphasized the strength and resilience required by spouses who maintain family life while their partners serve abroad.
"Your well-being is vitalnot just for your families, but for your own future. Your journey matters. Your voice matters. And your strength continues to inspire us all," Trump said. "We honor the bravery of service members, but we must also recognize the courage of those standing beside them."
"Your lives require a resilience that few outside the military can understand. Moves across the country or around the world, holidays with an empty chair, milestones celebrated over a screen. May this Christmas bring peace, safety, and gratitude to all who serve," she added.
The appearance marked a notable public return for Hines, who has been navigating personal challenges amid her husband, RFK Jr.'s, alleged digital affair with political journalist Olivia Nuzzi. Nuzzi has announced a book, American Canto, detailing the alleged relationship and its effects on her career, set for release on December 2.
Excerpts from Nuzzis upcoming book describe her purported interactions with Kennedy, including private exchanges during media scrutiny. A spokesperson for Kennedy previously stated that he and Nuzzi had only met once, during a professional interview for New York magazine.
Additionally, Nuzzis former partner, Ryan Lizza, has been releasing serialized accounts discussing her alleged relationships with RFK Jr. and South Carolina politician Mark Sanford. Lizza described the personal impact of these revelations as significant and deeply hurtful.
