Expert in Foreign Policy Anticipates that Trump will Strike Venezuela Soon

Foreign policy analyst Ian Bremmer stated on Tuesday that a U.S. military strike against Venezuela under President Donald Trump appears highly likely. Bremmer, head of a political risk consultancy, shared his assessment in a video on social media.

Hello everyone, Ian Bremmer here from Mexico City, closer to where tensions are rising: the U.S. and Venezuela, Bremmer began. President Trump is pushing for regime change, presenting an ultimatum to Nicolas Maduroeither leave with your family safely or face removal.

Bremmer highlighted the increasing U.S. military presence, noting, The United States has positioned significant naval forces and around 15,000 troops off the Venezuelan coast. Such a buildup and ultimatum strongly suggest that military action is imminent.

He further explained Trumps motivations, stating, This is not solely about Maduro being an illegitimate leader, although he did manipulate elections and many Venezuelans want him gone. Trumps focus is less about politics and more about strategic interests: drug trafficking and Venezuelas vast oil reserves. Military intervention could secure favorable deals for the U.S. in these sectors.

Bremmer also compared the situation to past U.S. dealings, noting that military support often aligns with securing access to critical resources and economic agreements.

Regarding Maduro, Bremmer observed that the Venezuelan leader remains defiant. Recently, Maduro gave a public speech surrounded by civilians, including women and children, making any targeted action highly risky. He is aware of the threat but is unlikely to leave voluntarily, complicating potential U.S. operations.
