Trump Continues to Discuss Fictional FIFA Award

President Donald Trump remains thrilled after being presented with the newly created FIFA Peace Award on Friday, a prize seemingly designed to flatter him. The enthusiasm continued into Saturday morning, when he revisited the event online following a series of posts directed at a CNN journalist and Fox & Friends.

Such a great honor, Trump wrote on Truth Social, sharing a Newsmax report covering the ceremony. Thank you FIFA, and have a historic World Cup!

Gianni Infantino, head of FIFA, presented the award to Trump at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final draw held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This is your peace prize, Infantino stated, giving the president a certificate, a trophy, and a medal. Trump, visibly pleased, spoke about the significance of the recognition.

Weve saved millions and millions of lives, he proclaimed, adding that he had helped end numerous conflicts. For years, Trump has campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing unverified claims of conflict resolution as part of his bid for international recognition.

By granting Trump a prize he long desired, Infantino appeared to seize the moment to appease the U.S. leader. However, the decision attracted criticism, given FIFAs expected neutrality and Trumps controversial record. During his tenure, his administration oversaw deadly Caribbean boat strikes, supported military action in Gaza, and implemented harsh immigration policies. Additionally, his foreign policy actions raised concerns about potential future conflicts with countries such as Venezuela.

Despite these criticisms, the ceremony celebrated Trumps receipt of the new award. Whether this will diminish his pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize seems doubtful, as he continues to promote his past achievements as evidence of global impact.
