Trump Jr Confesses to Being 'Pretty Conspiratorial' Following Kash Patel's Statement that Wild Claims Distract the FBI

Donald Trump Jr. openly admitted to having a tendency toward conspiracy theories during a discussion with FBI Director Kash Patel about the disruption such claims can cause to the bureau.

On his podcast Triggered Thursday, Patel explained the challenge of balancing free speech with law enforcement priorities. We are committed to protecting peoples rights to speak freely across digital, TV, and online platforms, Patel said. However, when conspiracies generate excessive noise, it diverts resources and attention from our main investigations. Our team has limited time, and Id rather focus on active cases than chase every conspiracy. We do our best to manage this balance.

Trump Jr. responded by acknowledging his own role in promoting conspiratorial ideas. Im a strong advocate for free speech, and over the past decade, Ive been pretty conspiratorial, and perhaps for good reason, he said.

During his fathers presidency, Trump Jr. promoted misleading claims about COVID-19 treatments like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin and downplayed the severity of the virus. He continues to assert that the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was a Democratic hoax and maintains claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Before becoming FBI Director during Trumps second term, Patel also propagated theories about a so-called deep state. He authored a childrens book series, The Plot Against The King, which addressed claims of a stolen election and offered alternative perspectives on the January 6, 2021, Capitol events.

NBC News reported that Patel repeatedly shared unverified claims on podcasts regarding alleged conspiracies against Trump involving government officials, the FBI, social media, and the press.
