Dillon Danis withdrawn from first Misfits title defense after sustaining injuries from UFC 322 brawl with Team Khabib

Dillon Danis has been removed from his scheduled Misfits Boxing light heavyweight MMA title defense after sustaining injuries during a November altercation at UFC 322 involving members of Islam Makhachevs team.

Misfits Boxing confirmed on social media that Danis will not face Anthony Taylor at Misfits Mania on December 20 in Dubai. Independent medical evaluations reportedly concluded that Danis is not fit to compete following the Madison Square Garden incident, where he was seen on video clashing with individuals seated near the Octagon.

The confrontation led UFC CEO Dana White to ban Danis from attending future UFC events. New York City Mayor Eric Adams also stated that the NYPD is actively reviewing the situation and that accountability is expected once the investigation concludes.

In its statement, Misfits Boxing emphasized that the withdrawal was strictly a medical decision, noting that Danis explored every option to stay on the card but ultimately did not receive clearance. The organization expressed confidence that he will return in 2026 to defend his title.

The 32-year-old fighter made his MMA comeback in August at Misfits Boxing 22, submitting Warren Spencer in just 15 seconds to improve his professional record to 30. The planned bout with Taylor would have marked his third appearance with Misfits. Before that, Danis stepped into the boxing ring in 2023, where he suffered a disqualification loss to Logan Paul.
