Mavericks Coach Reveals Anthony Davis Transfer Right After Defeat to Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks couldnt secure a victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, even with Anthony Davis making his long-awaited return. Davis had been sidelined for 14 games due to a persistent calf injury but finally stepped back onto the court.

In his first game back, Davis played 28 minutes, contributing 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, along with five rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Despite the 10-time All-Stars presence, the Mavericks fell short, losing 129-119.

Following the matchup, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd addressed the media and shared the teams plan regarding Davis amid his comeback from injury.

For the Lakers, Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic were the standout performers. Reaves scored 38 points on 12-of-15 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, and made six three-pointers. Doncic added 35 points on 10-of-15 shooting and dished out 11 assists. LeBron James also contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, helping the Lakers improve their record to 14-4.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, slipped to 5-15, continuing their challenging season. They are scheduled to play again on Saturday, facing the Los Angeles Clippers on the road. Coach Kidd confirmed that Davis will be rested for this game to manage his injury, marking a cautious approach after nearly a month off.

Davis is expected to be available for the Mavericks next matchup on Monday against the Denver Nuggets, featuring Nikola Jokic. There were no indications of any setbacks during his first game back, suggesting he should be ready for Mondays contest.
