Michigan linebacker Jaishawn Barham seen headbutting official during defeat against Ohio State

The intense rivalry between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 15 Michigan quickly turned heated in Ann Arbor this season. Big Ten showdowns are always emotionally charged, making it essential for players to maintain composure.

During a critical moment, Michigan linebacker Jaishawn Barham seemed to headbutt a game official, resulting in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that gave the Buckeyes another set of downs at the goal line. The incident took place after Michigan made a tackle for loss on second-and-goal near their own end zone, with Barham engaging face-to-face with the official for unclear reasons.

Barham, now in his second season with the Wolverines following a transfer from Maryland, entered the matchup with four sacks, ranking second on the team, and had 31 total tackles, tied for sixth on the squad. He contributed to Michigans strong start, which included a game-opening field goal and another score after intercepting Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin inside Buckeye territory.

Despite Barhams penalty giving Ohio State first-and-goal, Michigan limited the Buckeyes to a short field goal on that drive. Barham avoided ejection for the incident, but it was a close call.

Ultimately, Barham and Michigans defense could not contain Ohio State during the final drive of the first half and throughout the second half. Ohio State won 27-9, with Sayin throwing for 233 yards and three touchdowns, complemented by 186 rushing yards. Michigans offense struggled, totaling only 163 yards against Ohio States dominant defense, ending the Wolverines four-game winning streak in the historic rivalry known as "The Game."
