The Chicago Bears delivered a major blow to Philadelphia on Black Friday, grinding out a 2415 triumph in Week 13 and knocking off the 84 Eagles. The win pushed Chicago to the top of the NFC North as the team sets its sights on securing its first playoff appearance since 2020.
After watching Chicago outplay the reigning Super Bowl champions, broadcaster Rich Eisen declared that the Bears have officially arrived as legitimate contenders. What a difference a year makes, Eisen said in a monologue posted to his YouTube channel. It was exactly one year after Thanksgiving when the Bears informed Matt Eberflus that his time was up. Management decided to overhaul the coaching staff, and everything that followed changed the franchise.
Eisen highlighted the Bears dramatic turnaround. Theyve won nine of their last ten since Week 2, reshaping not just themselves but the entire NFC North maybe even the conference. I said recently that I needed to see a complete performance from Chicago, start to finish, where theyre clearly the superior team and now theyve done it two weeks in a row. First against the Steelers at home, and then going into Philadelphia and pushing around the defending NFC and Super Bowl champs.
He added, Chicago was absolutely the stronger team in Philadelphia on Friday. Eisen went on to say hes convinced the Bears are ready for the spotlight and poised for a deep postseason run. Give them their respect. After winning nine of their last ten, this team is the real deal.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had a quiet day statistically, completing 17 of 36 attempts for 154 yards with one touchdown and one interception. But Chicagos ground attack carried the load, as running backs DeAndre Swift and Kyle Monangai each surpassed 100 rushing yards. It was the first time two Bears teammates had accomplished that milestone in a single game since Walter Payton and Matt Suhey did so in 1985.
Chicago returns to action on December 7, heading to Green Bay for a crucial divisional showdown against the second-place Packers.
