A 20-year-old man from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, who was previously released on bail after raping a boy in a local park, has been convicted of assaulting a second child months later.
Anthony Lanchester attacked the first victim in October 2024 after following him through the park. Despite his arrest and being released on bail, he went on to commit another sexual assault in April.
Following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Lanchester was sentenced on Monday to six and a half years in youth custody.
Detective Constable Natalie Fletcher described Lanchester as a predator who showed no remorse and emphasized that he reoffended while on bail. He has been placed on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Both victims are also protected by restraining orders lasting five years.
Det Con Fletcher added that although the trauma for both children is lasting, they can now focus on their futures. She praised the bravery of the victims and the children who provided evidence at trial.
