Police officer 'appalled' by video showing alleged groping

A North Wales police officer has described herself as "shocked" after CCTV footage emerged showing her allegedly acting inappropriately towards colleagues at a work party. PC Pamela Pritchard, 29, appeared before a misconduct hearing in Colwyn Bay, Conwy, regarding an event at Caernarfon Rugby Club on 29 March 2024.

The footage presented at the tribunal reportedly shows PC Pritchard dancing on the floor and moving her hand towards a male colleague, prompting him to step back. Pritchard, who joined North Wales Police as a trainee in 2023, acknowledged that her behaviour while intoxicated was improper but denied committing gross misconduct.

Speaking at the hearing, she admitted she had limited recollection of the evening and stated: "My actions that night were unacceptable. I don't recognize the person in the footage, and I am deeply sorry." She broke down in tears, saying she felt she had disappointed her family, colleagues, and herself, adding that she had experienced panic attacks and nightmares since her arrest.

The tribunal also reviewed CCTV of Pritchard allegedly touching a female colleague inappropriately. She said she could not recall the incident, explaining: "I was just dancing with her. I regret any distress caused, but I did not assault her."

PC Pritchard was further questioned about a male colleague, referred to as "Police Constable B," whom she allegedly groped twice and attempted to kiss. She explained that during her probation, he had spoken to her about sexual content, and she believed her actions at the party were an attempt to push him away after he showed her an explicit video on his phone.

The hearing heard additional claims that Pritchard attempted to kiss another male colleague and an inspector, and touched a female colleague's chest. Throughout the proceedings, she consistently expressed regret and remorse for her behaviour, emphasising that she had never acted in this manner before.
