In a special tribute to Scott Weiland, a previously unreleased song by the late musician has been unveiled, marking the tenth anniversary of his passing. The track, titled "If I Could Fly," was shared to the public following a post on his official Facebook page. According to the post, the song was written in 2000, after the birth of his son. Weiland tragically passed away in December 2015 at the age of 48.

"If I Could Fly" was first made available during this years Record Store Day Black Friday event, but it is now accessible for streaming and will be released on vinyl on December 19. The announcement described this song as the first unheard track from Weilands archives since his death. The post on Facebook, shared on December 4, read: "To honor ten years since Scott Weilands passing, were releasing something truly special for the real fans."

The post continued, explaining that the track is "a previously unreleased song written in 2000 after the birth of his son." It went on to describe the song as "personal, raw, and a reminder of the heart that ran through all his work." Weilands legacy, spanning his time with Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, and his impressive musical achievements, has left a lasting impact on fans worldwide. The post highlighted the importance of this song, which it described as "a piece of Scott thats been held close for 25 years."

In the song, Weiland sings a heartfelt message to his son, Noah, in the chorus: If I could fly I would pick you up and keep you safe from the headlights / If I could fly I would lift you up and pull you out of the mudslide.

Scott Weilands passing in December 2015 came as a shock to the music world. At the time, it was confirmed via his official Facebook page that Weiland died in his sleep while on tour with his band, The Wildabouts, in Bloomington, Minnesota. He was 48 years old.
