Dr. Will Kirby expresses disappointment over cancellation of 'Deal or No Deal Island'

Dr. Will Kirby has expressed his disappointment over NBCs decision to cancel the reality game show Deal or No Deal Island after only two seasons. The former dermatologist turned reality TV star, who appeared on the shows second season alongside Survivor contestants Parvati Shallow and David Genat, as well as several newcomers, spoke to TV Insider about the shows abrupt end.

Kirby revealed that he had reached out to executive producer Matt Kunitz regarding the shows future. Hes incredibly talented and genuinely kind. I texted him saying, Dreams end, and this truly saddens me, Kirby shared.

The reality star, who will appear in an upcoming episode of Celebrity Weakest Link, described the cancellation as frustrating for multiple reasons. Joe Manganiello was an outstanding host. Having someone of his charisma, humor, and presence was a major win for the show, Kirby said.

He also praised casting director Allison Kaz for assembling an impressive group of competitors. There are so many talented individuals, like Seychelle Cordero, M.G. Cook, Storm Wilson, and La Shell Wooten, who didnt get the chance to fully shine. I would love to see them on other programs, he added.

Kirby reminisced about the shows filming location, describing Bankers Island in Bocas Del Toro, Panama, as one of the most stunning places Ive ever visited, and Ive traveled extensively.

Reflecting on his experience, he admitted, I was a bit disappointed by the cancellation. There were some challenges with editing, formatting, and game mechanics, as is common with any show. I also wish I had been involved earlier in the process to contribute more from a production perspective.

Kirby joined Season 2 in the second episode, Where Theres a Will, Theres a Way, and was eliminated by eventual winner David Genat in episode seven, Snakes in the Grass. He returned for the season and series finale to witness the dramatic conclusion of the final challenge.
