George Clooney Inquires About Travis Kelce's Interest in Acting Post-Retirement

George Clooney appeared on the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, where he asked the Kansas City Chiefs tight end whether he plans to explore acting once his football career ends.

During their conversation, Travis reflected on his experience filming Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler. He described Sandler as an incredibly kind person and said he remains grateful for being offered the role of a hotel waiter in the movie. Travis joked that if Clooney had played the part instead, the film might have been even better. Clooney responded with humor, saying he is excellent at playing a waiter.

Clooney then asked Travis if retirement might lead him toward show business. Travis explained that he would gladly take part in acting opportunities offered by people he admires, especially Sandler. He admitted he is unsure of his acting abilities but promised he would always bring enthusiasm and be a supportive presence on set. Clooney encouraged him, calling the possibility exciting.

The sequel to Happy Gilmore, released in July on Netflix, follows Gilmore returning to golf to help pay for his daughters ballet lessons. Clooney praised Sandler as a fun and generous collaborator, recalling their decades of playing basketball together.

Outside of the film, Travis also portrayed Ed Laclan in the FX series Grotesquerie. He has previously discussed how he evaluates his performances with the same self critique he applies to football and other projects, always looking for ways he could improve.
