Matthew Lillard discusses 'Fantastic' Scream Reunion with Skeet Ulrich in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (Exclusive)

Matthew Lillard has revealed his excitement about working alongside Skeet Ulrich in the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's 2 film, describing the reunion as "fantastic." Lillard, who reprises his role as the sinister William Afton, teased new surprises in the sequel, including the possible appearance of Springtrap, promising fans an intense experience that could "blow their minds."

The original Scream cast reunited on the red carpet for the premiere of the sequel, marking the first time they have appeared on screen together since the 1996 classic. While its unclear how much interaction the Ghostfaces will have in the new film, the reunion has generated considerable excitement among fans of the horror franchise.

Joining Lillard this time is Skeet Ulrich, who portrays Henry Emily, a key figure in the lore of the video games. Speaking with TooFab, Lillard praised Ulrichs addition to the franchise, highlighting their shared respect for fans and fandoms. "Having him on board is fantastic," Lillard said, noting their mutual understanding of maintaining a strong connection with the fan community.

Addressing the intense fan expectations, Lillard emphasized that the sequel raises the stakes significantly. "The game is all about adrenaline-pumping jump scares," he explained. "The new movie responds to fan feedback with more action, suspense, and iconic set pieces. Scott [Cawthon] and director Emma Tammi really delivered."

Lillard hinted that audiences should expect a thrilling experience and more in-depth exploration of the games canon. He also hinted at the possibility of seeing Springtrap in future installments but stopped short of confirming its appearance in the current film.

Looking ahead, Lillard expressed hope for a third film to continue the story, particularly the showdown between Mike, Afton, and Springtrap. He explained that the success of the first two films, both theatrically and on Peacock, opens the door for further installments in the franchise.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is set to hit theaters on Friday, December 5.
