Matthew Perry's Doctor Who Prescribed Ketamine in Overdose Death Receives 30-Month Sentence

Salvador Plasencia, the physician who provided ketamine to Matthew Perry before the actor's fatal overdose, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison. This marks the first prison sentence linked to Perrys death.

The sentencing took place Wednesday in a federal court in Los Angeles, following Plasencias guilty plea in June. He faced charges of conspiracy to distribute ketamine along with other related offenses.

I failed Mr. Perry, Plasencia admitted. I failed his family. I should have protected him.

Plasencia is the first among five individuals charged in connection with the Friends stars death to be sentenced. Others involved include Dr. Mark Chavez, Perrys personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, Erik Fleming, and Jasveen Sangha, also known as The Ketamine Queen.

Matthew Perry was discovered deceased in his hot tub on October 28, 2023. Authorities determined his death was caused by a ketamine overdose, with drowning identified as a contributing factor. He was 54 years old.
