Robert Irwin is taking a much-needed break amidst a whirlwind of professional milestones. The 22-year-old wildlife advocate and recent Dancing with the Stars champion shared a glimpse of his day off on Thursday, December 4, via Instagram Stories.
In the post, Irwin was pictured relaxing beneath a tree with an acoustic guitar, a book, and a journal, soaking up the sunny outdoors. Accompanied by Jack Johnson's song "Do You Remember", he captioned the snapshot: "First day off in months. So nice ."
This peaceful moment comes shortly after his DWTS win with partner Witney Carson on November 25, the release of his role in Zootopia 2, and the announcement of a special project at the Australia Zoo. Earlier in the week, on December 2, Irwin revealed he was returning to work at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge, a project that has been close to his heart since its 2022 opening. He described it as a welcoming space for visitors and expressed appreciation for the growing international support for the Australia Zoo.
Irwins DWTS victory mirrors a family legacyten years after his sister Bindi won the Mirrorball Trophy with Derek Hough in season 21. Discussing the family milestone with The Hollywood Reporter, Robert playfully mentioned his hopes of persuading his mother, Terri Irwin, to join the show. The petition to have my mom on Dancing With the Stars has begun, and I started it, he joked. Despite Terri initially declining, he plans to convince her, confident she would excel.
Reflecting on his mothers influence, Robert emphasized the meaning of true strength. He highlighted her combination of vulnerability, kindness, and resilience as a guiding example in his life. True strength is being able to find and feel your own vulnerability, your own emotion, and use that to carry yourself and to hopefully try and help others and to create a community, he noted, praising her ability to navigate challenges with grace.
Robert Irwins rare day of relaxation is a welcome pause amid his busy schedule of conservation efforts, entertainment projects, and family achievements.
