Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter condemned a White House video that depicted immigration officers chasing, handcuffing, and detaining people, accompanied by her song Juno. She wrote on X: Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.
The video was linked to Donald Trumps controversial policy of deploying ICE officers to communities, resulting in the detention of long-term residents with no criminal record. Carpenter joins numerous artists who have objected to the Trump administrations unauthorized use of their music, including ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Semisonic, Adele, Cline Dion, Beyonc, R.E.M., The White Stripes, Neil Young, and Rihanna.
Earlier, US singer Olivia Rodrigo also warned the White House not to use her song All-American Bitch to support its deportation campaigns after the Department of Homeland Security posted an Instagram video featuring the track.
Similarly, Franklin the Turtles publisher Kids Can Press criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for posting a manipulated image on X showing the beloved childrens character aiming a bazooka at alleged criminals. The post was captioned: For your Christmas wish list...
Kids Can Press stated: We strongly condemn any denigrating, violent, or unauthorized use of Franklins name or image.
The image appeared amid Trump administration operations targeting alleged Venezuelan drug boats, which officials have defended as acts of self-defense. These actions have reportedly resulted in more than 80 fatalities since early September.
In a statement, Kids Can Press emphasized Franklins role as a symbol of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity, noting that violent portrayals contradict these values. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell responded, suggesting Franklin would not support criminal activity, highlighting the mismatch between the characters image and the post.
