When will the new episodes of ‘Matlock’ air?

The second season of Matlock is about to enter a lengthy hiatus. The CBS series, featuring Kathy Bates, Skye P. Marshall, and Jason Ritter, returned on December 4 following a short break, but the midseason finale is approaching quickly. New episodes wont resume until February 2026. The show observed a planned Thanksgiving break starting November 14 and returned on December 4. This pause coincided with the completion of filming for the first seven episodes of the season.

Season 2 Highlights

Season 2 has featured significant tension between Matty and Olympia, raising concerns among fans about the persistence of their rivalry. Episode 6, Harm Reduction, marked the start of their reconciliation as they collaborated on a challenging case involving nuns. By Episode 7, aired on December 4, they had formed a team once more, joining Eva (Justina Machado) in a failed attempt to challenge Senior (Beau Bridges) at Jacobson Moore. Currently, they are working with Julian (Jason Ritter) on an NDA relevant to the Wellbrexa case.

Episode 7 also introduced Olympias mother, Celeste, portrayed by Vernee Watson, known from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The midseason finale features guest appearances by Nico, son of Mario Lopez, and Sean Carrigan from The Young and the Restless.

Matlock continues to air Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS.
