'Today': Mario Lopez Excited About Son Dominic's 'Matlock' Guest Role

Mario Lopezs 12-year-old son, Dominic, is quickly carving out his own path in acting. On the December 5 episode of the third hour of Today, Craig Melvin commented, It seems like your son might be following in your footsteps. We saw a photo of him on the set of Matlockhes showing real promise as a young actor.

Earlier this week, Lopez shared an Instagram photo of Dominic with Kathy Bates on the CBS series set. He captioned it, Meanwhile, back in LAJust Nico casually solving crimes with screen legend Kathy Bates on Matlock.

On Today, Lopez confirmed that Dominic will appear as a guest star in an upcoming episode. The CBS show will air its Season 2 midseason finale on December 11, with new episodes returning on February 26. Hes guest-starring on Matlock this week, Lopez said. Craig, hes already done three movies this year and now hes working with Academy Award winners. We couldnt be prouderhes doing amazing.

Dominic is part of a busy family; Lopez also has 15-year-old daughter Gia and 6-year-old son Santino with his wife, Courtney. Last year, Dominic debuted in acting alongside his parents in the Great American Family holiday film Once Upon a Christmas Wish. Lopez shared a December 2024 Instagram clip showing him and Dominic on set, captioning it, Me and Nico had a blast on set during our new Christmas movie.

Lopez has frequently highlighted his sons growing career on social media. In May, he posted images and videos of Dominic on the set of Bad Counselors. By July, Dominic was filming another project in Alabama. This fall, Lopez revealed that Dominic would feature in the upcoming horror movie The Revenge of La Llorona alongside Jay Hernandez. When your kids shooting a movie with your friend in NY & you start wondering if youre the third wheel, he jokingly wrote on Instagram in October, sharing a photo of Dominic with Hernandez.

Dominic finished filming his role in the movie later that month. Lopez celebrated on Instagram: Thats a wrap! My boy just finished shooting a horror movie in NY home for a quick pit stop before heading back for a Christmas film. Hes going from boo! To ho ho ho! Couldnt be prouder of my little leading man.

In November, Dominic began work on another holiday-themed project. Lopez posted updates on Instagram, writing, And thats a wrap for Nico on his holiday movie! Proud of my boy.
