Doctor debunks Trump's excuses for getting MRI

A leading heart specialist has strongly challenged President Donald Trumps account regarding his recent MRI. Speaking with CNNs Jake Tapper on Tuesday, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, who once treated the late Vice President Dick Cheney, criticized the White Houses justification for Trumps repeated medical visits.

According to a memo from Dr. Sean Barbabella, the presidents physician, Trump underwent chest and abdominal scans described as preventive for men of his age.

This cannot be considered routine preventive care. Its not standard practice, Reiner said. I dont have patients who come in for a full-body scan without a specific reason.

Reiner highlighted that the memo lacked critical details. The type of scan wasnt specified. The president mentioned MRI, but the physician only referred to advanced imaging. Was it MRI, CT, or both? And theres no mention of a brain scan, he added. Simply claiming this was routine preventive screening for a third time this year isnt believable.

Trumps October appointment at Walter Reed occurred just six months after his annual physical. The White House initially provided no clear explanation for the second visit. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described it as a routine yearly checkup, which Reiner and others find implausible.

Observers also noted signs of declining cognitive function, with the president appearing drowsy and at times incoherent during a Cabinet meeting. Trump himself admitted uncertainty about the MRI, stating he didnt know the body part being scanned, yet insisted that his results were absolutely perfect.

The memo from Barbabella concluded that Trump remains in excellent overall health, despite the ongoing questions surrounding the purpose of his medical imaging.
