During a recent appearance on "The Katie Miller Podcast," Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth expressed that he would not trust Secretary of State Marco Rubio or White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to look after his children.
In a lighthearted moment, the host, Katie Miller, asked Hegseth and his wife, Jen, which members of the Trump administration they would feel comfortable leaving in charge of their kids. Hegseth responded with humor, saying, Oh, I mean, not your husband or Marco, which led to laughter from both Jen and Katie Miller.
However, Hegseth soon provided a more serious answer, naming several people from the Trump administration whom he would trust. Among them were Vice President Vance, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and some of the female members of the Trump Cabinet. "I would trust the vice president. I mean, Ive known Sean Duffy for years. I would trust him, Hegseth commented.
He also mentioned Brooke Rollins, Pam Bondi, and Tulsi Gabbard as individuals he would feel comfortable leaving in charge of his children. These figures include the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Attorney General, and the Director of National Intelligence, respectively.
This exchange took place during the Cabinet Confidential segment of the podcast. Katie Miller also recalled asking Vice President Vance similar questions earlier this year, with Vance expressing his trust in Kelly Loeffler, the Administrator of the Small Business Administration, to babysit his children.
Hegseths remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny over his role in military operations earlier this year, particularly in relation to airstrikes targeting suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. Despite facing criticism and accusations of war crimes, Hegseth has largely defended the actions of the military.
