Chiefs reveal Patrick Mahomes' latest injury ahead of Texans game

The Kansas City Chiefs are approaching Sundays game against the Houston Texans with playoff hopes hanging in the balance. After falling to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, the Chiefs now hold a 6-6 record for the season. Winning against Houston is crucial for Kansas City to remain in contention for a postseason spot.

Wednesdays initial practice report of the week revealed a fresh concern: quarterback Patrick Mahomes is managing a knee injury heading into one of the teams most critical matchups. Despite this, Mahomes fully participated in the first practice session and is expected to be ready for Sunday.

In Kansas Citys recent defeat, Mahomes delivered an impressive performance, completing 23 of 34 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, along with three carries for 30 rushing yards. Nevertheless, the Cowboys edged out the Chiefs 31-28, extending Dallas winning streak to three games.

The upcoming contest features a 7-5 Texans squad that is also vying for playoff positioning. Mahomes presence on the injury report raises some concern, although this knee issue is newly reported, and the timing of its occurrence remains unclear. Fortunately, it hasnt limited his practice participation, suggesting he should be prepared for the game barring unexpected setbacks.

Mahomes had also been listed on the previous weeks injury report for groin problems but played without restrictions against Dallas. The Chiefs will host the Texans at Arrowhead Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET.
