A costume worn by Will Ferrell in the 2003 Christmas film Elf has been sold at auction for over 239,000. The Hertfordshire-based auction house Propstore had initially valued the outfit at up to 200,000.
The vibrant green and yellow costume was worn by Ferrells character, Buddy the Elf, during a scene where he playfully presses every button in a New York elevator. The outfit was sold directly from the collection of the film's producer, Jon Berg.
A Propstore spokesperson highlighted the rarity of the piece, stating that only a few costumes were created for the film, making it an exceptionally prized item for fans of Christmas cinema.
At the same auction, a fedora worn in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which was filmed at Elstree Studios, sold for 327,600 after receiving 21 bids.
Other notable items up for auction include the original blaster prop used by Star Wars character Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back, which is expected to sell for between 350,000 and 700,000.
The auction features a wide array of memorabilia from various films and television series and will continue in London until Sunday.
