One IDF soldier wounded and terrorist killed in car-ramming at Hebron checkpoint

On Saturday evening, a vehicle surged toward Israeli soldiers stationed at a checkpoint in Hebron, West Bank, lightly injuring one soldier, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Troops responded by opening fire on the attackers, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinians. The IDF noted that at the time, the Paratrooper Brigade was carrying out operational duties at the checkpoint.

Preliminary investigations indicated that one of those killed was a cleaning worker driving a separate vehicle who was not involved in the car-ramming attempt. The second individual, a 17-year-old, was the perpetrator inside the vehicle used in the assault. The car bore an Israeli license plate.

This incident follows another car-ramming attack in Hebron just five days earlier, which slightly injured a female soldier near Judea Junction. In that case, Israeli security forces tracked down and killed the attacker after he fled the scene. The soldier injured in the recent attack received medical treatment at a local hospital.

Recent months have seen similar violent incidents in the area, including a ramming and stabbing attack at Gush Etzion Junction last month, which claimed the life of a 70-year-old and left three others wounded.
