ADP reports 32,000 job cuts by companies in November

In November, American businesses reduced their workforce by 32,000 employees, according to a payroll data analysis by ADP, raising concerns about the resilience of the economy. The report highlighted that job creation has stalled in the latter half of 2025, while wage increases have been slowing down.

ADP noted that November saw particularly low hiring in sectors such as manufacturing, professional and business services, information, and construction. The figure contrasts with October, when the private sector added 42,000 positions, indicating a downward shift between the two months.

This update comes amid reduced availability of monthly employment data due to a government shutdown. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) last issued a monthly jobs report for September, which recorded an addition of 119,000 positions. The report for October was canceled because the necessary data was unavailable.

The absence of timely employment reports has limited insight into the state of the economy, an issue that has generated political challenges. President Trump has faced declining approval regarding economic performance, with Democrats criticizing his approach to controlling costs.

Recent political outcomes, including Democratic victories in the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial races, have been partially linked to voter concerns over rising living expenses and economic issues emphasized by successful Democratic candidates.
