Fox News personalities Laura Ingraham and Dr. Marc Siegel turned to a 136-year-old reference while dismissing concerns over President Donald Trumps noticeably drowsy demeanor during Tuesdays Cabinet meeting. Throughout the session, Trump repeatedly appeared to drift off or struggle to stay alert, prompting widespread online mockery and viral clips highlighting the moments.
During the evening broadcast of The Ingraham Angle, both hosts acknowledged that Trump may have briefly nodded off. Still, they argued the behavior was hardly alarming likening it instead to inventor Thomas Edisons reliance on short naps.
Dr. Siegel maintained that Trump demonstrates cognitive sharpness daily through constant public engagement, while Ingraham suggested that minimal sleep makes brief eye-closing unsurprising at any age. She added that the presidents daily workload speaks louder than fleeting moments caught on camera.
Siegel went on to note that Edison famously embraced quick power naps, implying that occasional drowsiness doesnt correlate with diminished capability. Ingraham concluded that critics would continue to fixate on the incident despite previously defending similar moments from political opponents.
