Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi Deciding to Leave U.K. and Return to U.S. Due to Finding Country Life ‘Boring’ (Exclusive)

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are trading the English countryside for the familiarity of the United States. After a year in the U.K., sources reveal that the couple has grown restless and decided to move back home.

The 67-year-old talk show veteran and her 52-year-old actress spouse reportedly struggled with the quiet and limited social opportunities of rural England. Their initial move followed the 2024 re-election of President Donald Trump, when they purchased a $20 million farmhouse spanning 16,000 square feet on 43 acres of land. They have since listed this property and relocated to a larger, modern estate nearby.

According to insiders, the move to the Cotswolds was originally appealing as it offered a break from the pressures of Los Angeles and a private space for Ellen to plan her professional return. However, the day-to-day experience of life in the rainy countryside has become increasingly monotonous and challenging for the couple, especially for de Rossi, who has found it difficult to adjust.

"Portia is feeling restless," the source said. "The cold weather and lack of activities leave her with little to do except walk or stay at home while Ellen is busy with calls and planning her next steps."

Limited visits from friends and celebrities have further contributed to their decision. Both DeGeneres and de Rossi agree that returning to the U.S. is the best move for their lifestyle and social needs.
