Matty Healy Announces Two New Albums from the 1975

The 1975 are gearing up to release new music, potentially in the form of not just one, but two albums. Frontman Matty Healy shared fresh details about the band's upcoming work while interacting with a fan following a Q&A session at Gateshead College in England on December 2.

In a TikTok clip, a fan mentioned asking Healy about the word DOGS, which appeared on drummer George Daniels kit and on the big screen during the 1975s Glastonbury set earlier this year. Although the audio is unclear, Healy confirmed that DOGS is the title of a forthcoming album. He then added, We made two. It might be one, it might be two, but yeah, weve made two albums.

This will mark the bands first release since 2022s Being Funny in a Foreign Language. After a busy tour supporting that record in 2023 and 2024, the group announced an indefinite hiatus, though not a breakup, performing only once this year at Glastonburys Pyramid Stage.

Earlier this year, in May, prior to Glastonbury, the bands manager Jamie Oborne confirmed on The Money Trench podcast that the 1975 were in the studio. He described the new album as already a pretty extraordinary record and emphasized the importance of taking their time to get it right.

Meanwhile, the band has also revisited their previous release. Fans recently noticed that the track Human Too, originally the ninth song on Being Funny in a Foreign Language, was removed from streaming platforms. Healy explained that he made the change to better align the album with his vision.
